LET'S GET OUTRAGED BY PUBLIC OFFICIALS' DWIs

The recent DWI arrest of the site administrator at Clover Patch Early
Childhood Services in Schoharie (Gazette, Oct. 9) marks at least the fifth
DWI arrest for educational workers and administrators in the Capital Region
this year.

I can't help but notice that our political representatives have virtually
ignored this particular brand of drug abuse. Where's the outrage? Where's
the call for a war on alcohol? Where's the obligatory lament, "What kind of
message are we sending our children?"

If the above arrests were for driving under the influence of marijuana,
every politician in the area would be wailing about the evils of marijuana
use. It appears that our elected representatives have no interest in waging
a war on "Bud."
