Welch I was shocked about the latest insanity proposed for the drug war: Spraying the rain forests of South America with mycoherbicides. This is nothing short of state-sponsored eco-terrorism. I remember 30 years ago when it was a different country, a different war and a different poison -- Agent Orange. We found out how unsafe that was. Also shocking is the lack of concern on the part of ecology groups. If this proposal was for our forests in Northern California, the nightly news would be full of protests from ecology groups. But their silence on this is deafening. I hope that the governments of Colombia, Peru and Bolivia have more common sense than the people we send to Washington. David J. Welch, Houston
