You can't." Wednesday Viewpoints. At last, after more than a decade of columns from Mr. Davis (no relation), he has finally come down on the same side of an issue as me. No, not the one in his column's title, the isolationist policy of libertarians he mentions as the only two issues keeping him from whole-heartedly embracing their philosophy. On the marijuana issue ole Mark is, as is par for the course for him, on the wrong side of common sense and intelligent discourse. He challenges anyone to provide one, just one, "societal benefit" proceeding from the legalization of pot. Talk about shooting fish in a barrel. Mark, let's try prison sentences just for starters, especially those in effect during the years when you graciously admit that you, too, imbibed. It doesn't take a whole lot of marijuana in possession to qualify one for a multi-year stay in one of the numerous TDC facilities around the state. The tone of Mr. Davis' column could lead one to believe that he would not object to repeating history and ruining the lives thousands of men and women for merely possessing enough pot to make one joint too many.
