The reason people are upset about the Rahim Jaffer case is not so much because of preferential treatment, but because of his blatant hypocrisy. When Mr. Jaffer was a Conservative MP, he ran one of the most vocal anti-drug election campaigns, promising "drug-free schools" and to get tough with drug dealers. So it's understandable that people are outraged; he was found in possession of cocaine (we'll never know if it was one gram or one pound). We've seen people's shock and dismay at the hypocrisy of American anti-gay politicians caught in homosexual affairs, and that disgust extends to anti-drug politicians found with illegal drugs. Rahim Jaffer is a Conservative hypocrite caught in the act, and that is why so many are upset about what happened. Jodie Emery, Vancouver. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
