Then he lost his job, April 14 Burnaby RCMP Const. Amyn Dharamshi was suspended in 2004 and resigned in August 2008. So why in April of 2009 is this news? It's clear that Dharamshi made incredibly poor choices, but as was stated in the article had he had an alcohol problem, he would have received counselling and treatment to deal with his problems. I read this article with great sadness because I know him. Although it's true that he has to bear the consequences of his actions, it was also clear that he was remorseful and knew he had made a terrible mistake. Recently, some officers of the law have testified in cases where their bad judgments or poor choices led to someone's death. Dharamshi is a decent human being who has a young son to support and is trying to get on with his life. This is not just a story; it's a tragedy for a family.
