Lynch and his medical marijuana dispensary. The true issue in this matter is the conflict between the federal government and the state of California. Charlie was issued a license from the city of Morro Bay to grow and dispense medical marijuana. He adhered strictly to the laws as set forth by the state and the city. All of Charlie's patients were over the age of 18 (a requirement in the city ordinances), excepting Owen Beck, a young cancer patient, who came with his parents. Every person that came to the dispensary was required to have a recommendation from a physician and this was verified by dispensary personnel. The story about the now infamous backpack gets worse every time someone mentions it. Charlie had no knowledge of street sales. Ridiculous! Charlie fired one employee when he found out that he was stealing from him and more than likely selling on the streets. Reports of huge profits are also wrong. There is a huge difference between gross and net profits. As I said earlier, the real conflict is between the federal government and the state. Charlie operated his dispensary with great care to abide by the laws as set forth by the state and the city. It was the personal and/or political agenda of the local sheriff that there would be no dispensary in his county. He investigated Charlie for a year, could find no violations, so he had to invite the feds into the matter, resulting in the raid, closure and subsequent arrest and conviction of Charlie. Charlie is an innocent man caught in the middle of a conflict between the federal government and the state of California. Does he deserve to go to jail for this conflict? I don't think so.
