I can only imagine what people would say if the Charter of Rights and Freedoms prohibiting racial or religious discrimination did not apply to public schools either! If searches like these are continued to be supported by the public, we will gradually stoop lower and lower to the level of civil liberties that subjects of the United Kingdom have, where cameras watch your every move and security guards are being hired to randomly frisk school children for knives without warrant. Those letter writers who justify that abridgement of students' rights while hoping to keep their own should remember those immortal words of Martin Luther King, Jr., who said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."
