Author: Brett Mckinney Bookmark: http://www.mapinc.org/mmj.htm (Cannabis - Medicinal) WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE ON MEDICAL POT RULING? The uproar and discontent is coming. It must be. The ire or angry Californians awaits for another instance of activist judges legislating from the bench. The voice of the people has yet again been neglected by a court that, rather than interpret law, relies instead on personal political persuasion. Medical marijuana has again been deemed a violation of the federal Controlled Substance Act of 1970 by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, despite having been approved by a majority of California voters in 1996. What of the will of the people and big government not interfering in our lives? What of the public outrage toward these activist judges? Evidently, the only judges who feel the heat are the ones who try to move an allegedly secular cross off of public land. Judges exist outside the sphere of public influence for a reason: So they can interpret law. All judges appear activist when they rule on a decision with which we may disagree. But keep the criticism consistent. If you called out the activist judges who tried to remove the cross off of Mount Soledad over public objection, so too should these judges who deny medical marijuana to sick Californians face your scorn.
