It's funny that last month when CCD sent a flyer out to households in the area, they were concerned about the prospect of drug addicts roaming our leafy streets and complained that City Hall should encourage a full debate. As a homeowner in Strathcona 10 years ago, I objected to the concentration of services in the Downtown Eastside, arguing strenuously that addicts come from all communities and should get services throughout the city. I still believe that and I called the CCD to tell them I would be happy to be part of a debate about the proposed housing site. Not surprisingly, they haven't called back.
