Mathis, Bookmark: http://www.mapinc.org/decrim.htm (Decrim/Legalization) HERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO MORE OF SAME OL' SAME OL' POLITICS You too may be a Libertarian if you are frustrated by the futility of voting for either the Democrats or the Republicans. They are competing for our votes by outdoing each other in the unstoppable expansion of the welfare state. You too may be a Libertarian if you would like to decide how much of your money you want to save and spend, instead of letting the government take what it wants, leaving what is left for you to live on. Libertarians want to replace the income tax, which enslaves us, with a tax on the things we buy, which liberates us. Taxation would also be greatly reduced by two factors: (1) the eradication of government control over the economy and (2) the steep reduction of the prison population due to the repeal of drug prohibition. Alcohol prohibition did not stop people from drinking, so we repealed the Eighteenth Amendment. Likewise, Libertarians want to win the unwinnable war on drugs by legalizing them. Alcohol and drugs should be health problems, not criminal problems. This is all it would take to revitalize America, to take back our government as our servant, not our master.
