I agree with almost everything Sharpe wrote, however the solution is not decriminalization, but rather full legalization of marijuana. Only legal products can be controlled by governments. Only legal products can be regulated by governments. And only legal products can be taxed by governments. Speaking of taxes, by keeping marijuana as a criminalized product, the Canadian government is throwing away several billion dollars in potential tax revenue every year.
