Dear Sir: This is in response to the letter to the editor, "Look Before You Leap," which appeared in the June 5th issue of this newspaper. Two government studies done, one in England and the other in Australia both concluded drivers high on marijuana were no more likely to have accidents than those who are high on life. The British study used 2,500 people. Stop sensationalizing something that is of little concern, or at least has no real evidence to support major concern. But do make sure some of that 250 million goes to education that might make people think twice about driving on any intoxicant/ medication! In response to Joe Hueglin comments about asking "the opinions of those on the front lines, the Canadian Police Association and the Canadian Medical Association and others" - well the Senate did and they proved themselves of little help. By the way, its the patients and compassion workers who are at the front line! I suggest government seek council from TAP (Teachers Against Prohibition) and LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition), they have clear heads on this issue.
