The absurdity of the recent Supreme Court ruling on drugs and public housing is, well, intolerable. The decision to follow a zero-tolerance approach toward drugs aligns well with the recent statements made about the student fighting drug testing in Oklahoma. Only bullies pick on the elderly and children. Only bigots use epithets like "druggie" and I was shocked to read that a member of the Supreme Court used the term in the student drug-testing case. What country is this again? We lead the world in our incarceration rates. We seize medicine from sick people and confiscate their legal and medical records. Now we will begin giving old folks the boot for what their relatives do? Perhaps the citizens of the United States should adopt the same zero-tolerance policy toward its elected (and appointed) leaders. ALLAN ERICKSON, Eugene, Ore. - --- MAP posted-by: Alex
