CANNABIS VS ALCHOHOL In response to your parenthetical remarks at the end of Grant Duncan's letter of July 19. Mr. Duncan compares the harm of alcohol and cannabis and declares accurately that cannabis is less damaging to the body. Your remark insinuates that there are very few regular users of cannabis. This is no doubt true. Alcohol is legal and causes more harm than all the illegal drugs combined. When cannabis is legalized, usage may go up, and if so, alcohol usage will probably go down. The overall impact will be a positive one for society, as less harm will be done to more people. This is a good thing, and I thank you for pointing out this fact.
