George Pataki's drug law reform proposal doesn't go far enough, at least it is a step in the right direction ["Gov Releases Plan to Change Rockefeller Drug Laws," News, June 8]. New York's harsh drug laws have been responsible for oppression of the lower classes and minority races for 30 years. I support Pataki in this move to try to reduce the laws' oppressive force. With any luck, this is only the beginning of a more enlightened era. Adam Wiggins Pasadena, Calif. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
