You must devote resources to one area. Yet our government is trying to fight a war not just on two fronts, but on several dozen. The administration claims it is fighting a war against terrorism, yet it continues to spend billions fighting other wars unrelated to stopping terrorists, such as the war on drugs. Every dollar spent fighting drugs is one less dollar for fighting terrorism. Every dog trained to sniff out drugs is one less dog that could be trained to sniff out explosives or poisons. Also, we as a nation really need to re-educate ourselves and get over our indoctrinated gun phobia. What could be so horrible about a gun that rather than permit pilots to defend their planes, we prefer simply to shoot down that plane and kill everyone aboard? People need to ask: Why is the government so willing to sacrifice all these innocent lives rather than to abolish the illusion that guns are inherently evil? I believe we could be a great nation again and could win this war against evil, but not if we waste resources and allow irrational fears to render us helpless.
