While adequate doses of morphine would control the pain felt by Mr Field's wife, the anxiety would remain. The euphoria associated with heroin and not morphine is the reason why it is the preferred drug of illegal addiction. How cruel to deny seriously ill people the opportunity of spending their last days with a feeling of wellbeing, free of all pain and anxiety.
