TRIMINGHAM NEEDED ON DRUGS COUNCIL

The Prime Minister has this week been saying that he knows that people are
hurting.

How hurtful does he think it is for parents whose children have died from
drug overdoses to remove their special advocate, Tony Trimingham, from his
advisory council on drugs?

Who else will speak up particularly for these mothers and fathers who are
so concerned to protect families from the painful consequences of Howard's
zero tolerance?

We need compassion and change, not a mean spirited continuation of the
failed policies of the past.

I am ashamed that the Prime Minister has treated families, who are working
voluntarily to support each other, with such contempt.

Ann Symonds, Family Drug Support, Leichhardt, March 19.
