CLINTON'S PLEA

People who live in tin houses shouldn't throw can openers. Richard
Thornburgh demonstrated his usual self-righteous hypocrisy when he
condemned former President Clinton in ("Of Pardons and Plea Bargains").

Mr. Thornburgh's Justice Department failed to pursue criminal charges
against Neil Bush for his role in the looting and subsequent failure of the
Silverado Savings and Loan Association. Meanwhile, Mr. Thornburgh used the
Justice Department to impose an agenda of authoritarian social control upon
the impoverished of our nation through over-aggressive prosecution of
crimes involving the possession and sale of narcotics.

Under the Thornburgh outcome-determinative theory of jurisprudence, the law
is designed to benefit, but not burden, those with whom he personally
identifies (Republicans) and to burden, but not benefit, those with whom he
does not identify (everyone else).
